On May 3rd, ‘Mister Proms’ John Miles, our Electric Band and German band Stanfour, guest of the Aida Night of the Proms 2011, will perform a unique set with various songs on board of the brand new AIDAmar, a new cruise ship that is part of the AIDA fleet. AIDA, highly appreciated partner and title sponsor of Night of the Proms in Germany, invited its club members for the maiden voyage of the AIDAmar from Emden to Hamburg. The ship will be baptized in Hamburg on Saturday, May 12th, which is also the 823rd ‘harbour birthday’ of the city. Four AIDA ships will be there and more than 1,5 million guests are expected to come and watch the ceremony and fireworks. The AIDA guests will be invited on two smaller vessels, one of which will have John Miles and band on board, while Stanfour will be performing on the other.
Naturally 7 will be playing on Night of the Proms in Antwerp (Belgium) and Rotterdam (The Netherlands) this year.

The AIDA Night of the Proms 2012 in Germany starts with the charity campaign ‘Three orchestras for the Orient’. We call on all music lovers and fans to donate old or unwanted instruments for a good cause. In cooperation with the organizer of the world’s largest charity rally, the Allgäu Orient Rallye, which starts under the auspices of the UN World Food Program, we aim to donate instruments to three children’s music school in Anatolia, Azerbaijan and in Georgia. Thus, children are given the opportunity to learn an instrument they would otherwise never get the chance to.
Many people have a musical instrument at home that is no longer used for many years. Now all music fans have the opportunity to givethis instrument a meaningful destination. If you want to donate an instrument please sent it securely packaged to the following address: Allgäu Orient Rallye, 87534 Oberstaufen, Germany.
Music knows no boundaries. It connects people across all political, religious and ethnic boundaries!

We received the sad news that Aidan Lawrence died. From 1999 to 2006, Aidan was the bass player of the Electric Band and accompanied in that period with great enthusiasm dozens of international artists. We mourn his passing and wish his family and friends strength in these difficult times.

The shows in Antwerp and Rotterdam have come to an end and the shows in Germany are halfway. Time to make a little overview and collect some feedback from the artists, press and audience.
In the three different countries, the artists were very warmly welcomed. Angie Stone and Seal were pretty excited about the show and shared it (thanks to Twitter) with the world!
Angie Stone: “Just got off of youtube watching the performance we did at night of the proms Seal Mick Hucknall of simply red and me pretty good”
Seal: “NOTP is one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had in my life as musician. Thank you so much Jan and Dirk.”
Also the audience responded very positively. Some quotes:
“Wow, congratulations people! What an edition this year! I had goose bumps the entire show!” (Michael)
“We’ll be back next year!” (Marianne)
“It was just amazing!” (Natasja)
This year Night of the Proms got younger. Discobaar A Moeder, two Belgian deejay’s, challenged Robert Groslot and his orchestra, Il Novecento, to a musical battle in Antwerp and Rotterdam. In the movie below you can see the result!
There will be extra concerts on Saturday, November 12th in Antwerp and Thursday, November 17th in Rotterdam. On Thursday, December 15th Night of the Proms will be playing in d’Coque Arena in Luxemburg.
